Lauren Watson

Lauren is excited to move her practice from Fortius Sport and Health to PolyCan Health Centre at Simon Fraser University. She has enjoyed serving the Burnaby community for over 6 years. Lauren has been practicing in Orthopedics for 20 years and believes strongly in the multi-disciplinary approach to sport performance and injury prevention.

Lauren enjoys the challenge of working with each athlete’s unique biomechanics and movement patterns while applying them to the demands of the individual’s sport. She has treated clients from 5 to 86 years of age, from the elite to amateur to recreational level. With Lauren’s knowledge, clinical and on-field experience, she is dedicated to rehabilitating injuries, optimizing an athlete’s performance and preventing injury. For the non-athletes, Lauren applies the same principles to helping people stay active and pursue their leisure activities.

Lauren has served her profession as an Adjunct Professor at UBC in the Faculty of Medicine for 10 years, acted as Chair of the BC Orthopedic Division for 10 years and is a Mentor for candidates pursuing their Fellowship in Manual Therapy and Masters degrees.

Lauren has enjoyed sports and been active throughout her life. She played Varsity Field Hockey at the University of Western Ontario. In her 20s, 30s, and 40s she has done marathons, 50 km trail races, Ironman, adventure races and Gran Fondos. She has experience rehabilitating her own injuries, thus has good insight into helping others manage and overcome their injuries.

Lauren’s passion is getting her patients moving well and enjoying activities/sports that they love. She welcomes all new clients and existing clients to book an appointment at PolyCan Health Centre.

Graeme Poole

Graeme is currently working in a dual role, spending mornings as the Rehab Therapist for the Vancouver Canucks and 2 afternoons at PolyCan Health Centre. Graeme’s role with the Canucks is helping players on the injured reserve return to NHL play, and his role at PolyCan is helping other athletes achieve their rehab goals. Prior to this, Graeme spent seven years being the head physio for the Vancouver Whitecaps Major League Soccer team.

Graeme has worked with community athletes of all levels, in both conditioning and rehabilitation roles. Growing up as a multi-sport athlete, Graeme has a passion for many different sports including soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey, snowboarding and golf.

In the professional sport environment, Graeme was able to hone his skills by treating injuries from the moment they occur, all the way back to return to competition at a high level.

Having been an athlete all his life, Graeme—an ex UBC Thunderbird soccer player, has first-hand experience with a lot of conditions he treats, an invaluable insight.

Chris Perrey

Chris is an Australian-trained Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who has been working with patients and athletes at all levels of activity for over ten years, from active community members to those in professional sport. He is current Head Physiotherapist with the Canadian Women’s Rugby Team. Previously he worked at Fortius Sport & Health, and prior to coming to Canada worked with professional netball, rugby and also podium-level athletes at the Western Australian Institute of Sport in a wide range of sports. He has a keen interest in runners, including analysis, treatment and conditioning, for injury prevention, injury management and performance. In his spare time he is now a keen long-course triathlete, and was previously a track athlete for over 20 years.

Nicolai Hartmann

Nico graduated in December 2019 with a Msc. of Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. Prior to his Master studies Nico completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree with an extended minor in Psychology at University of the Fraser Valley and worked as Kinesiologist for 1 year providing exercise focused rehabilitation. Nico graduated from both degrees with distinction.

After completing his Masters degree, Nico worked in England as physiotherapist treating a wide range of orthopeadic and joint conditions involving post surgery, sports, overuse, arthritis and longstanding joint pain.

Nico believes in a strong emphasizes of exercise, movement & lifestyle coaching to create long lasting results for each patient. He achieves beneficial treatment results utilizing movement education, exercise rehabilitation with a focus on strength & conditioning and effective manual therapy techniques tailored to the individual needs of each patient. His treatments are based on the most up-to-date knowledge base.

In his free time Nicolai is a passionate soccer player, avid road cyclist, outdoor enthusiast and movie geek.

Jack Liney

Growing up, Jack always knew he wanted to become a Physiotherapist. Upon graduating 11 years ago, Jack honed his skills working across a whole spectrum of hospital and rehabilitation settings and as a pitchside Physiotherapist in UK professional rugby.

Jack has worked with various clients, including; professional and Olympic athletes, everyday warriors, postpartum and the elderly.

Jack is a sports and physical activity specialist. He also has extensive experience working in concussion and vestibular rehabilitation.

Jack adopts a personalized approach at every opportunity. He uses a variety of techniques to keep his clients functional, pain-free and beyond; precise assessment, functional movement screening, Intramuscular stimulation dry neddling, joint mobilization, therapeutic exercise, including strength and conditioning program prescription.

As an interdisciplinary healthcare professional, Jack considers himself part of the team required to assess and treat injuries, fueled by his passion for building professional networks and staying in tune with the latest evidence-based practice.

Ali Mohammadi Fard

Ali Mohammadi Fard has over 15 years of rehabilitation experience having worked in both acute and ambulatory settings managing a vast range of musculoskeletal, sports injuries and neurological disorders.

He graduated from The University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in Tehran, 2004 and explored his passion for sports physiotherapy working with Iran men’s Volleyball National team B and U21. His interest in integrating exercise therapy with manual techniques helps patients to get back to optimal function in a safe and efficient way.

Performance Dietitian

Jessica is a Registered Dietitian (RD) with the practitioner team at PolyCan Health Centre. Her extensive experience includes clinical work for Fraser Health's nutritional services, as well as sport nutrition expertise obtained while consulting for recreational athletes and sports teams. By using her clinical skill set and passion for food and sport, Jessica is able to assess each client's unique needs and provide a tailored dietary plan to help fuel performance, enabling the individual to overcome the barriers themselves and their health goals. Jessica strives to empower her clients by helping them acknowledge existing strengths while encouraging realistic and maintainable behaviour changes that enhance their active lifestyle. Jessica’s goal is to not only reinforce nutrition’s role in optimizing the body for performance, but to also help her clients rediscover their enjoyment for food.

Jessica graduated from St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition (Honours). Post-graduation, she completed her dietetic internship through StFX at various community and health facilities across the Maritimes. She is currently completing the International Olympic Committee’s Diploma in Sports Nutrition, with an expected graduation date of November 2020.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending her time being active through strength training, cycling, exploring local BC hikes, and getting creative in the kitchen to share her love of cooking and baking with family and friends.
